Aim:
To enhance condom use among FSWs and their boyfriends in the Federal Capital Territory.

Method / Issue:
The intervention was conducted in 5 brothels in the FCT. Recruitment into the intervention was restricted to FSWs and their Boyfriends who gave an informed consent. These two groups were reached separately with HIV prevention messages. The Boyfriends Forum which lasted for 4 months focused on correct and consistent use of condom and equally addressed misconceptions about condoms. By the end of the intervention, questionnaires were administered to the BBFSWs who participated in order to determine changes in condom use behavior.

Results / Comments:
The mean age of the 61 BBFSWs who participated in the intervention and indicated that they have boyfriend is 27 years. 39 (63.93%) indicated that they currently use condom with their boyfriends while 29 (47.54%) use it consistently. 7 (11.47%) indicated that they used condoms and stopped at some point however 11 (18.03%) BBFSWs indicated that they do not use condoms with their boyfriends. 4 (6.55%) did not respond to the question.

Discussion:
The findings show that there is an increase in correct and consistent use of condom by BBFSWs during sex with their boyfriends. This is an improvement over findings of the IBSS 2010. SHiPS Project is currently planning to scale up interventions among boyfriends of FSWs in order to curtail the spread of HIV in Nigeria.
