Aim: It has been a well established fact that Female Sex Workers (FSW) experience violence on the the job and in their personal lives, which increases their vulnerability to HIV and other health related quality of life indicators. Being beaten and forcibly raped are most common violence. Present study aims at calculating the exact burden of category of violence FSW experiences mainly in context of South-Asian Countries.

Method / Issue: A systematic search of the literature has been conducted.Search approach involves term groups. A total of three term groups were formed constitutes of different key words i.e. Episode (Eg. Physical Abuse OR Raped) and Region (South-East Asia OR India OR Bangladesh....). The key words within the groups were divided with "OR" and groups were connected with each other by "AND". Electronic search of online database was conducted through using the pre-decided key words in the database and libraries. PubMed, The Cochrane Library, EMBASEand social sciences libraries were searched.Articles hence obtained in the search were reviewed in requisites of relevance, quality and validity in three phases . First phase was undertaken by two researchers articles were included or excluded based on their titles. In the second Phase, other two researchers reviewed the abstracts of the articles and further inclusion & exclusion has been done. In the third round, the full-text version of each of the remaining articles was obtained and reviewed by the first three authors.All three authors were involved the final synthesis of the data.

Results / Comments: Extraction and synthesis of relevant articles has cleared a picture regarding the violence on the female Sex workers. From the scientific scrutiny of the literature major types of violence experienced by the FSW [High to Low]. 1) Beaten up by the client 2) Rape or Coerced sex 3) Unprotected Sex (forcibly) etc.

Discussion: Most of the violence against FSW could be prevented by interventions practiced globally. FSWs should be made aware regarding these practices and should be involved in the policy making process related to human rights, HIV and Healthcare programmes.
